Eastbourne Retirement Later Living Development – Foundation Construction
Go behind the scenes at Harbourside House, a recently completed four-storey retirement development in Eastbourne, East Sussex for McCarthy Stone.
This time-lapse showcases the delivery of a 1,304m² piled raft foundation slab, completed in just nine weeks, despite challenging ground conditions. The site comprised a complex mix of Made Ground, dense granular soils, soft clay and deeper Weald Clay, alongside CS3 ground gas levels.
To address these constraints, our solution incorporated an integrated gas ventilation system, ensuring compliance, safety and long-term performance. Our full scope of works included piling, concrete blinding, drainage and services, gas protection measures, formwork and reinforcement, lift pit base construction, coordination with warranty provider inspections, concrete pours, and final strike and clear.
Watch the time-lapse to see how careful planning, technical coordination and experienced delivery come together to achieve efficient progress on complex foundation schemes.
